Quickly catching my ears today is Chløë Black, a new artist who was born in Australia, raised in Paris and the West Coast of the USA, and now lives in London. 27 Club is her debut single, and it’s one powerhouse, emotional pop song that immediately evokes Lana Del Rey in its tender, sadcore first moments, before Chløë Black launches into powerful BANKS meets Amy Winehouse like soulful territory with some superb vocal capabilities. And really, it doesn’t get more glaringly obvious with the sadcore glam reference, considering the song itself. 27, as most of you should know, is the tragic age when so many artists like Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and so many others were lost. Chløë Black has seriously captured my attention and imagination with 27 Club.
Very dope track.
